Meet Claire Thomas - aka @TheVogueRunner - who's gone from overweight to being a Welsh Wonder Woman into run streaking and marathon running. Amazing.
We recently became aware of Claire as she bought one of our highvis jackets and posted about love for it on social media. Naturally we were flattered (!) and got in touch to find out more about her. Here's Claire's story in her own words:
"Anyone who knows me knows that I am quite a vibrant, fun person. I love to get out, laugh and live life to the full . But flash back to 2014 and I was quite a different person. I was very overweight and at my heaviest tipped the scales at 17st which was obese for my height of 5ft4.
"It took a medical scare for me to transform into the woman I am today. Don't get me wrong, inside I was always the same but carrying more weight made me lack confidence and certainly I had no interest in any form of exercise. Running a bath and climbing stairs got me into a sweat.
"2015 was my year of change and also when I developed my love for running. I started healthy eating in Jan 2015 and also running in May 2015 and by Oct 2015 I had lost 7st and had two half marathons under my belt!
"Extreme. Yes. But that's me. I give 100% to all I do. By April 2016 I was doing my first London marathon.
"Fast forward to now and I have done 10 full marathons, recently an ultra marathon of 32 miles, and approx 45 half marathons. I often dress as Wonder Woman at marathon events to fundraise for charity. She's my alter ego and locally people call me Welsh Wonder Woman.
"I have lots of goals, from running all the six marathon world majors (I have done 4 of them so far), to running up the Rocky Steps in Philadelphia, along the Great Wall of China, as well as learning to swim and completing an Iron-man. This 42 year old is not about to hang her shoes up yet!
"In addition, in case this is not enough (!), I am challenging myself to run every day and my goal is at least 365 days. I started in March this year and today smashed day 238 of running every day. I absolutely love it and running really is my therapy. It makes me feel alive and I celebrate every run because I know I am fortunate to be able to do it."
Well, we love what you've achieved Claire and wish you all the very best for achieving your ongoing goals! Watch this space for updates on Claire's amazing challenges....
