What’s the difference between a gilet and a vest?

Nothing, they’re the same garment: a sleeveless layer worn over your top. Cyclists tend to say gilet, runners tend to say vest. Ours come in fully reflective silver or hi vis yellow.

Should I wear hi vis or reflective gear at night?

Reflective. Fluorescent hi vis fabric needs daylight to work, so it fades to grey after dark. Reflective material bounces headlight beams straight back at drivers, which is what gets you seen at night. The best option covers both, like our 50/50 reflective and hi vis jacket.

Is hi vis a legal requirement for cyclists in the UK?

No. The Highway Code recommends light coloured or reflective clothing in the dark but it isn’t law. Given drivers can spot reflective fabric from over 200 metres, it’s an easy win either way.

Jacket or gilet, which should I choose?

Jacket for the colder months: windproof, sleeved and layerable. Gilet for warmer weather or layering: 360 degree visibility without overheating. Plenty of riders own both.

Are these jackets and gilets waterproof?

No, they’re visibility layers rather than rain shells. For wet commutes pair them with our waterproof helmet covers and backpack covers.
