What is the plastic type taste with my hydration water bladder and how do I get rid of it ?
Share
One of the most common questions we get asked about our hydration bladder is: what is the plastic or chemical type taste when you first use it?
If you Google this you will see it is a very common question concerning all plastic water holders, whether bladders or bottles. The most important thing to stress is that the plastic taste is NOT harmful in any way, and it is easily resolved.
Our hydration water bladders are BPA and BPS free, so they are 100% safe and any bad taste is not harmful. If you do a bit of research there are many suggestions as to how to get rid of the taste, but here is the quickest and best method we have found, for our bladders or any other plastic water holder.
How to Get Rid of the Plastic Taste in a Hydration Water Bladder
Before first use, follow these steps:
- Fill the bladder fully with warm soapy water, then wash and shake it well.
- Empty the soapy water and refill the bladder about two-thirds full with warm water.
- Add a tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda and at least a tablespoon of lemon juice.
- Leave it to soak for 30 to 60 minutes (longer is fine).
- Rinse, rinse, and rinse again. Job done.
That is it. The plastic taste will be gone, and you are ready to ride, run, or hike.
